I learned how to avoid bear traps and even found new functionality. This had gone on long enough, so I dived into the depths of Contacts on iPhone, iPad, Mac and iCloud. I suppose that’s unsurprising when the apps work differently. Contact information on my iPad was different to the contact information on my iPhone and Mac. There was no consistency between my devices. I tried deleting the duplicates, but like Lazarus they arose. What a mess! There were duplicates, lots of them, and somehow some work contacts remained after I deleted my work account. I needed to get rid of work contacts anyway. It’s time for a clean install and some spring-cleaning. Okay, I mumbled, I’ll do it the old-fashioned way.

Both phones needed to use the same version of iOS, and my previous phone was on a beta. I was going to set up the new phone from an iCloud back-up, but no dice. I decided to treat myself to a new iPhone when I changed jobs. Apple Contacts on iPhone, iPad, and Mac (created by author)
